Video & Photography

I am a photographer and have always made art photographs to understand my sculpture, document it and look at a two-dimensional view of my thee-dimensional environment. Humor is a great doorway to see our lens of bias. In the case of “Mountain 0.0.1-0.0.3”, my sense of how humans relate with a distant view is one of “the mountain is this big” and “the mountain weighs this much”. For the same exhibition, Small Glimpses, Many Times, I made my first art video “Mountain 5.0.0 (Journey Remembered, Journey Taken)”. It was a massive undertaking about how we project our thoughts on the “mythic” mountains in our minds, remembered from our youth, hoped for in our futures and basically taken out of any semblance of reality in our minds! I climbed my “mythic” mountain only to be surprised by what I found when I got to the top. Lastly, in this group of photos are ones from an Artist in The Wilderness Residency. I built environments and photographed them, altering them with color, wax, and different materials to create a magical world in the environment.
